Matthias Menz

He joined Weta Digital 17 years ago to work on the groundbreaking “Lord of the Rings” trilogy and has held various responsibilities at Weta Digital including Lighting and Sequence Supervisor, CG Supervisor and VFX Supervisor.

Matthias won a VES award for his lighting work on Gollum for “The Return of the King” in 2004 and was VES nominated for ‘Outstanding Virtual Cinematography’ in 2012 for “The Adventures of Tintin”. Other films he supervised- or contributed lighting for were “Avatar”, “The Hobbit“ trilogy, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”, “The BFG“ and “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets“.
